Generosity and Sharing: A Social Skills Yoga Brain Break for Partners is part of a series of brain breaks that focus on a variety of social skills that school aged children and adolescents need into adulthood. This short 1 page brain break focuses on the benefits of working with a partner, not just in yoga. It is best geared for older elementary aged students and above, or younger students who are used to yoga poses and working cooperatively and safely, as it requires children to work with a partner through 6 different partner poses. This sequence ends with a calming balloon breaths and a reclined resting pose.
Yoga, when used as a brain break, can assist with classroom management and increased positive behaviors, giving students the ability to physically move around, expend some energy, notice their feelings in the moment without labeling them as good or bad, as well as calm and activate the brain to increase focus for the remainder of the school day.
The Boardmaker pictures can be easily displayed on an interactive white board or printed and used with a document camera. The pictures are appropriate and accessible for students of varying abilities and across multiple grade levels.
I hope you enjoy this activity with your students as they practice working with partners,
