Incorporate a brain break into your ELA block, story time, or any time your students need a wiggle break. Tomorrow I’ll Be Brave is an endearing story by Jessica Hische, encouraging the children in your life to work toward being adventurous, strong, smart, creative, curious, confident, and brave. The story also assures children that even if they aren’t all or some of these things, they always have tomorrow to try. This yoga sequence, most appropriate for PreK-2nd grade, retells the story with over 3 pages of yoga poses and mindful breathing moments. It will get them moving from strong standing poses, to mindful breathing moments to balance poses, and bending poses. Of course, it ends with a Savasana, or resting corpse pose, to give your kiddos a few moments to rest their bodies and calm their brains before diving back into the busy school day activities.
Yoga poses and deep breaths get the oxygen moving to the brain, increasing focus and concentration as well as calming the body and mind. Put some fun movement into your students’ day today!
Pictures can be easily displayed on an interactive white board or document camera. The Boardmaker pictures are easily accessible and recognizable by children across grade levels and abilities.
